The feast was jointly organised by the Palliyoda Seva Sanghom (PSS) and the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB). The organisers had made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the feast and according to them no fewer than 40,000 people took part in the feast served on the temple premises and at the nearby ‘oottupura’ and auditorium.

Nirapara
The Vallasadya is a unique mass feast with strong devotional moorings, given to the crew of Palliyodams (snakeboats) which the devotees consider a divine vessel of Lord Krishna, presiding deity of Aranmula Sree Parthasarathy Temple . People from different Palliyodakkara (villages having their own snakeboats) in and around Aranmula reached the temple ghats in their respective boats to take part in the annual feast. The oarsmen were accorded a customary reception at the temple ghats.

The oarsmen offered Nirapara to the presiding deity at the Nadappanthal in front of the golden temple mast and went round the temple chanting Krishna bhajans. The entire atmosphere was charged with the rhythmic vanchippatu, songs in praise of Lord Parthasarathy.

A colourful procession, better known as Ashtami-Rohini Vallamkali, by the majestic Palliyodams participating in the Vallasadya through the Aranmula race course of River Pampa was another attraction. The Vallasadya began immediately after the utchapuja at the temple. Travancore Devaswom Board president C.K. Gupthan formally inaugurated the event by serving the feast on a plantain leaf in front of the golden temple mast at
