Aranmula rural tourism theme to be highlighted at RDP

The cultural diversity of Aranmula will be the main theme of various floats to be displayed by the Central Tourism Department at the forthcoming Republic Day parade in Delhi on January 26, 2008.
This was announced by P.N. Suresh, executive director of the State-run Vasthu Vidya Gurukulam, which has been the implementing agency for various Centrally-aided rural tourism projects as well as the UNDP-sponsored Endogenous Tourism Project in Aranmula.
Major destination
In a telephonic conversation from Delhi on Friday, Mr. Suresh said the decision of the Union Ministry of Tourism comes in the backdrop of Aranmula being tipped for various national and international awards for rural and cultural tourism.
He said the Central Tourism Department has taken rural tourism as its theme for floats to be displayed at the Republic Day parade. The Central decision is an honour for State tourism as a whole.Mr. Suresh was in Delhi to attend the Rural tourism meeting convened by the Union Ministry on Friday.
