Joan de arc landing at port city

The French naval training ship and helicopter carrier Joan de arc, is arriving at Cochin port on Jan.28 and will be berthed here until Feb.2, 2009.Another ship carrying 250 naval cadets will also be accompanying the training ship.This is the third ship in the French navy to be named after the patriotic heroine Joan of Arc from France. The ship was commissioned in 1964.The ship is used for training in peace time and as a helicopter carrier during war.The ship has the capacity to deck ten helicopters.Also three helicopters can land and take off at the same time on its deck.With a length of 182 mtrs and a speed of 28 nautical miles, it contains equipment for electronic warfare alongwith arms and ammunition such as machine gun and 100 mm gun.
